The XML >> EDL route has worked for me, but only after throwing Premiere CS6 into the mix.
So from Premiere CC2014, I exported an XML of the audio tracks. Then created a new project in CS6, imported the XML, checked sync.
Now here is messed up part. Unlike CC2014, in CS6, you can't set your EDL to link to original source files. It will refer to whatever you have named the audio clips in the bin after import. And in XML export from 2014, can't link to source files either, as XML contains clip names as renamed in the bins. So in CS6 I had to rename all the audio clips in the bins to their original wav filename before exporting the EDL.
The good part is that the EDL worked. My sound guys were happy they could ingest in ProTools & link back to original DEVA wav files. And I was sitting there pissed as hell that Adobe is making me do all this work for something that should happen with 2-3 mouse clicks...something that has been happening with 2-3 mouse clicks for 10 years now.
