Thanks for creating the test file, pwillener. I downloaded it, copied the text and pasted it into Word with no problem.

Have you ever heard of a pdf file that shows text fine, but when you copy/paste it (say into Word for test consistency), the pasted text is partially duplicated as in my example? Are there any secret commands to show the pdf file contents (say in ASCII code, but without Adobe proprietary wrappings)? This seems to happen on pdf's created from printing a webpage from Google Chrome browser?
In any case looks like the bread crumbs lead to the Chrome path, next.
