Neither ram nor ECC works like that. ECC was only introduced to deal with the occasional instance where a ram transistor would flip prematurely to the opposite state from a electromagnetic interference or just from remaining in a charged state to long. This is so rare that you can run your system non stop for weeks before you even get a chance any where near 1% of that occurring 1 time. There was a study done on this and it took on average close to 6 months of memtesting before they could generate 1 error from such an event. It works out to be a average of .03% per day you leave the system on without discharging the ram ie shutdown or restart. Servers that run 24/7 365 this will eventually become an issue. Desktop system don't require this at all. ECC does not and is not intended to fix bad ram. If you have ram generating errors on a consistent basis its bad. That has nothing to due with unbuffered ram versus ECC. ECC is just there to protect that random event where the gate flips to the opposite state that possibly can occur once in 6 months.
