Why won't shockwave flash run on anything?

I recently got a Lenovo Yoga 2 (not the pro 2), and shockwave flash is not working on ANYTHING. I'm running windows 8.1 and use the latest version of chrome for my browser. I know that chrome has a built in plugin for flash (pepper flash) and I know the common problem is having two flashes enabled. I disabled chrome's version of flash and downloaded another flash player to use (macroflash) to use instead, just like every single website recommends. Well, that worked for about two weeks and then stopped working again the other day. I uninstalled and reinstalled chrome, and then I downloaded firefox, but I had the same issue on firefox as well! Which I thought was pretty weird. So, I checked out what my computer has installed: flash player and shockwave. I tried uninstalling flash player and using shockwave. I tried uninstalling shockwave and using flash player (all the while keeping chrome's version of flash disabled). I checked to see if my extensions were the problem, and they weren't. So, then I tried to play a movie on VLC and it wouldn't work either. At this point I'm convinced that something on my laptop is messing with flash, but it's brand new, so there isn't anything on it yet. I checked my firewall settings, and that wasn't a problem either. I don't know understand what went wrong at this point. My plugins are: chrome remote desktop viewer, widevine content decryption module, adobe flash player (shockwave flash 16), chrome pdf viewer, intel identity protection technology, native client, microsoft office (sharepoint and lync), google update, java (2 files), nitro pdf plugin for firefox and chrome, vlc web plugin, and microsoft silverlight. If any of those stick out as weird, let me know! I googled them all, and nothing came up as a problem.
