Have you tried re-saving the files from the other apps, in other formats? Obviously, Photoshop doesn't recognize the file format. HiRise may be using proprietary file formats, which would be uber-lame. Alternatively, there "may" be file-format options available from the app-developer, or third-parties, for either HiRise, or Photoshop.
